"The Moon Jar"

A timeless and iconic ceramic vessel, harkens back to the elegance of the Joseon dynasty. Its rounded form, mirroring the full moon, embodies the essence of simplicity and utility, characteristics highly revered during that era. Rooted in Confucian ideals of purity, austerity, and simplicity, these traditional vessels became a canvas for expressing profound philosophical concepts.

In my reinterpretation of the Moon Jar, I pay homage to this classic form while infusing it with a modern perspective.

While the traditional Moon Jar emphasizes the purity of its shape, my focus shifts to the intricate textures that adorn its surface, transforming it into a canvas reminiscent of lunar landscapes. Each crater and contour tells a story, capturing the mystique of the moon in its imperfections.
